![]() My hope is that this review will present what makes it stand out in a crowded world of digital audio workstation software. Rather than going down those familiar paths, I thought it would be better to cover some of the more useful functions and plugins that Cubase Pro 9.5 offers. Of course, they each have slightly different ways of getting things started, but all in all it is nearly the same across the board: add a track for audio or MIDI, set a track to record, hit the transport control to start a recording, etc. In general (and I am simplifying it here), audio recording and MIDI input from a keyboard or other MIDI device is nearly same across the many DAWs that are out there. To do that, it would require an extensive article that could be very long and there is a manual for that in any case. I won’t cover all the basics of how Cubase really functions. Also, you will need an internet connection for account setup and activation. Cubase requires a USB e-Licenser, and another important requirement to note is that Cubase can only use 64-bit plugins. You’ll need a 64-bit Intel or AMD multicore CPU (i5 or better), a minimum of 4 GB of RAM (8 or more is recommended). For the Mac, it will work with OS X 10.11. ![]() Installation and Requirementsįor the PC, Cubase Pro 9.5 will work with 64-bit Windows 7, 8 and 10. Here are just some of the things Cubase Pro 9.5 offers: unlimited audio and MIDI tracks, up to 192kHz and 5.1 surround audio, automatic delay compensation, 90+ audio and MIDI plugins, improved zones, VariAudio audio editing/pitch correction, VST Connect SE, and much more. They still have the same high quality sound, but they offer fewer tracks and there are fewer features/plugins included depending on the version. The two other Cubase products available, Cubase Artist 9 and Cubase Elements, are stripped down versions. It’s really a complete suite of products aimed at maximizing the potential of your pro or home studio.
